Bishop Mar Jose Porunnedom Urges Pedagogical Shift for Digital Natives in Sadgmaya '26

Emphazising the need for a modern approach to education, Bishop Mar Jose Porunnedom, Patron of the Corporate Educational Agency of the Diocese of Mananthavady, stated that while pedagogical frameworks must evolve for "digital natives," the fundamental bond between teacher and student remains irreplaceable by Artificial Intelligence. Speaking at the annual general body meeting of teachers on May 9, 2026, at the Pastoral Centre in Dwaraka, the Bishop emphasised that the human element of education carries an eternal influence that technology simply cannot replicate. The event served as a formal homecoming for the entire community under the Corporate Educational Agency, celebrating both the future of pedagogy and the legacy of its educators.

The proceedings began at 10:00 AM with a prayer and introductory instructions by Fr. Sijo Elamkunnapuzha, the Corporate Manager. This was followed by an insightful session led by Bishop Porunnedom titled "Pedagogical Insights for Gen Z," which addressed the evolving needs of the current generation of learners. During the formal inauguration, the Bishop delivered a thought-provoking address, urging educators to focus on inculcating core values in children to form a strong future generation. He also highlighted the potential of retiring staff to continue serving as vital volunteers for the betterment of society.

The ceremony continued with a presidential address by Bishop Mar Alex Tharamangalam, who expressed deep gratitude for the collective contributions of the teaching faculty. A significant highlight of the gathering was the honouring of 40 retiring teachers and two non-teaching staff members, who were each presented with a memento as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service. The event concluded with felicitations from Mr. Saji Jose, Mr. Shinoj Pappachan, and Mr. Johnson K.G., followed by a vote of thanks proposed by the teachers' representative, Mr. Thomas M.U.
